AnnouncementIntroducing a New Tool to Facilitate Housing Production: Site Check

Published: 6/29/2023

To speed housing production in the state, the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research has released a free tool called Site Check, which will help developers and public agencies find parcels of land where housing projects may qualify for streamlining under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). Staff designed Site Check based on public input from partners through interviews, presentations, and workshops.

Site Check can accelerate the production of housing by facilitating planning decisions and clarifying to which parcels of land CEQA streamlining options may apply. Developers and public agencies can turn to Site Check as a first step in considering how CEQA may apply to a housing project. California’s Department of Housing and Community Development funded Site Check as part of the technical assistance for Senate Bill 2, the Building Homes and Jobs Act.

OPR staff will hold a webinar on July 10, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. to introduce the tool and demonstrate its capabilities. Those interested may register for the webinar introducing the Site Check tool in the link below:
