The Governor’s Office of Planning and Research has been engaged in an extensive update to the California Advisory Handbook for Community and Military Compatibility Planning, informed by extensive outreach, engagement, and collaboration with state agencies, the Department of Defense, and community stakeholders.

This comprehensive update seeks to create a suite of tools to guide for city and county planners, property owners, developers, and military personnel on how best to engage and collaborate on proactive planning efforts, to encourage land use compatibility, and to reduce encroachment on military installations and operating areas. The Advisory Handbook, presented here, is presented on a user-friendly, interactive PDF format which allows users to use the online format or download as a PDF.
