California Initiative to Advance Precision Medicine Meetings

The California Precision Medicine Advisory Council holds meetings quarterly. The Council meets in person, alternating between Northern and Southern California. Under California’s current stay at home order, meetings are being held virtually.

Members of the public are invited to submit their comments and questions prior to or during each meeting by email or speaking during the public comment agenda item. Agendas will have at least one designated opportunity for public participation. Minutes posted with a Draft watermark have not been approved by the Council.

Upcoming conferences, webinars, talks, and other events related to precision medicine are also listed here. Inclusion in this list does not constitute an endorsement from CIAPM or OPR. Suggestions for events are welcome via email.

The effect of COVID-19 on the fetus remains unclear. While initial reports suggest that vertical transmission with SARS-CoV2 is reassuringly rare, the complex socioeconomic, domestic and broader maternal lifestyle factors which can influence a child’s lifelong well-being have been modulated during the experience of this pandemic. The developing brain is particularly susceptible to maternal stress, resulting in permanent structural changes and increased incidence of behavioural and mental health illness later in childhood. A large international longitudinal survey is being undertaken to better understand the impact of the pandemic on those yet to be born.
