The Public Review Draft 2013 State of California Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan (SHMP) is available for public review and comment. The Draft 2013 SHMP can now be viewed/downloaded from California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) Hazard Mitigation Web Portal at: http://hazardmitigation.calema.ca.gov . The deadline to submit comments is August 30th, 2013. The SHMP represents the state’s primary hazard mitigation guidance document, and provides an updated and comprehensive description of California’s historical and current hazard analysis, mitigation strategies, goals and objectives. The SHMP also defines a long-term strategy for reducing the impact of disasters by supporting protection and prevention activities, easing response, and speeding recovery to create better prepared and more resilient communities.
